Poker Apps
Rake is a scaled fee taken by online poker apps and live cardrooms. It is generally calculated as a percentage of the pot and collected as an entrance fee in tournaments. The specific percentage varies by stake. The lowest-stakes euro tables at one large room rake 3.30%, middle-stakes euros 4.25% and higher-stakes pounds 5.0%.

Live and online pace
The rake is generally higher in live games than online. Around thirty hands per hour are played in a live cardroom, but online that is around sixty. Besides the rake, tipping dealers and casino staff is expected. When playing online, the rake is taken automatically by the game software.
Rakeback and loyalty
Online poker rakeback rebates to players a portion of this fee. In poker tournaments, rakeback is deducted from the cardroom's entry fee. Some sites are only completely rake-free for frequent players, while offering reduced rake instead for other customers.
Rakeback in cash games can be calculated using two different methods: dealt and contributed. Not every online poker room offers rakeback, instead offering in-house loyalty programs that give cash and other rewards to players based upon how much they play. Each online poker room determines its own rake structure.
